“Nadine… You.Are.A.Leader. Continue to assume control of your destiny. Your forward momentum toward reaching your goals is very important, however, your well-being is imperative. Whichever course you chart, whichever graduate school you select, whichever employer you choose to benefit from, whichever avocation you immerse yourself in, whichever relationships you choose, whichever of your myriad talents you promote, whichever countries worldwide you choose to travel… fearlessly weigh your options and make choices which benefit the health of your body, mind and spirit. You.Can.Do.This.” — S. Martin, Knowing North
“As I continued to scroll down to the middle of the email I smiled at the photo of the Ladies of LA with the exception of Dr. Martin (laugh). I truly miss the safe space you and Dr. Martin created for me and many students over the years. I can now see the true value that those potlucks had in my life. And all the times I was able to spend with you and Dr. Martin as you shared knowledge and wisdom with me…
I know you two have probably heard these words over a thousand of times, but I truly thank God that I met you and Dr. Martin. You two have molded me into who I stand to be today, and I will be forever grateful for all that you two have done for me over the many years. THANK YOU!!!!” – Mya Brown, M.S. ’17
Prepare for an evening filled with song, poetry, dance, and inspiring speeches. The format of this event is akin to an open mic experience with every aspect of art on displayed. Several campus groups showcase their talents in an effort to raise funds for the on-going relief efforts in Haiti. Last year, the alumni accepted the challenge to match the total raised by the undergrads. We were sweating a bit, but were able to meet the challenge. Start saving your loose change now. The undergrads really surprised us last year. We don’t want to be caught off guard and this is for a worthy cause

There are several upcoming events that you do not want to miss! For your planning purposes, I am providing event information through April 2019. I will provide updates as our calendar changes throughout the year. There are two big annual events hosted by the undergrads that you should be aware of. The first is happening in just three days:

This year, we have been charged with the same task: matching the financial donations raised by the undergrads at this event. So, empty that change jar, giant water bottle, or the piggy bank you've been feeding all year with your loose change and prepare a donation that will help us keep pace with the undergrads. There’s no need to wait until next week to begin donating. You will find your donation options at the link below.

“Nikki, I was a witness to your instinctual method of capturing memorable photos in real time. I watched you measure your new environment in the highlands of Guatemala, summon your intent, calculate the local physics and position yourself appropriately. I saw you, often through my camera lens, employ all five senses, frame your space and with intuitive timing calmly snap the shutter of your cool, black DSLR camera to capture your emotive subjects perfectly– your intense focus providing a shield against the multitude of distractions swirling all around you. Yes, Nikki, that is what I witnessed and your beautiful, eye-catching photographs you briefly shared with me on site were proof positive.” – S. Martin, Click On! Guatemala
“If you have knowledge let others light their candles by it.” - Margaret Fuller
